Accolades

Ellen Rosenthal’s exhibit of her botanical block prints, "Garden Friends" at Green Spring Gardens in the historic house located in Alexandria, VA  continues through June 27. The historic house is open Wednesday-Sunday 12:00-4:30 PM. Call ahead to be sure the exhibit will be open for viewing.

Victoria Barnes will have matted prints and cards available as part of the “Vibrancy Unleashed” show at the Van Landingham Gallery, Studio 311, within the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The show runs June 1-30.

Events

Five art galleries in Occoquan, VA to include Art a la Carte Gallery, Artists’ Undertaking Gallery, Laura Jones Fine Art Gallery and Studio, Local Colour, and The Loft Gallery of Occoquan will be launching the town’s inaugural ArtWalk on Saturday, June 21 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Shaoping Zeng, Nancy Ennis and Bob Friedenberg will be participating in Frederick Festival of the Arts on June 7-8.   (Shaoping Zeng is the featured artist on this year’s flyer)

Zoe Linn Jarvis will have a booth at the Spring Pop-Up Market in Downtown Bethesda selling her original cut paper artwork. The Market is Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8 from 11am-6pm.

Bob Friedenberg will also be showing his artwork at Manayunk Arts Manayunk (Philadelphia), PA June 21 - 22, 2025 and East Hampton Art Affair at Herrick Park in East Hampton, NY

Classes

Brush Lettering Variations - April 3 and 4
Taught by Pat Blair
In this class, we will start with basic brush strokes, learning the technique and movement needed. We will then explore more spontaneous movements and letter forms, giving many possibilities for creative lettering, including letter flourish variations, script styles and other ‘personalities.’

Triangle Brush Tulips and Magnolias - Starts April 17
Taught by Pat Blair
In this class, we will learn how to use it to achieve graceful leaf shapes, and petal shapes. Through a series of exercises, the will explore the feel and technique used to create these shapes, and then put them together to achieve beautiful tulips and magnolias.
