Gerry has been an avid nature and scenic photographer since 1967. He takes nature photos at local nature spots and most scenic photos in Thailand. For this showing, Gerry is featuring nature photos taken at Huntley Meadows in Alexandria, Virginia and at Pohick Bay in Lorton, Virginia. Bald Eagles, Wood Ducks and Hummingbirds make great choices for interesting, dynamic, and beautiful wall decorations.
We have been inspired by many artistic experiences over many decades, but have enjoyed art glass the most. It is a visual and visceral media that transcends through light, color, texture, movement, structure, and depth, all at the same time, which is wondrous and captivating. We try to accomplish this in our art work, bringing the brilliance, color and dimension of art glass together with the art of design to form an interesting and exciting visual experience. We enjoy using a variety of different techniques in combination to achieve unique lighting effects throughout each work. Also, much of our work reveals a contrast between organic movement and structure, light and dark, translucence and opacity, texture and smoothness.
Steve started painting and drawing on a full time basis about 10 years ago, after retiring from a career in industry. He is primarily a self-taught artist. His work is representational and tries to capture the subtleties of lighting, shadow and perspective to create an overall feeling for the scene and has been featured in local magazines and in many juried local art shows. In addition to painting and drawing, Steve enjoys teaching others and is currently teaching private and group drawing lessons as well as public courses in drawing and painting at the Spring Hill Rec Center in McLean.
