Mothers Day is Coming!

Spring is here and Occoquan is a great place to meet up with friends and family. In May you can celebrate Mother's Day Weekend and check out the Artists' Undertaking Gallery for a gift for mom or another special person in your life. The Artists' Undertaking Gallery will be participating with the four other art galleries in Occoquan to make the weekend a special one. Look for the pink balloons! 

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

This month, we are featuring Mary Rose Janya. 

Mary Rose is a watercolor artist. Her work is vibrant, yet calming and peaceful. About painting, she says “It’s that desire to capture a magical moment - the way the morning light shimmers on the pond, the joyfulness of jazz, the rhythm of a dance, the warmth of friends sharing coffee at a cafe.” Take a look at some of her work on our website, or better yet, come into the Gallery and see it in person!

Accolades and Events

Bob Friedenberg will be showing at URBN Markets  in Fairfax, VA
April 5 - 6, 2025, and at the Arlington Festival of the Arts in Clarendon, VA
April 26 - 27, 2025.

Ellen Rosenthal’s hand printed block print “End of Month” will be shown at the Del Ray Artisans "Synchronous Invitational Exhibit" April 4-26, 2025.  This is exhibit was by invitation only to "outstanding member volunteers".  www.DelRayArtisans.org 

Victoria Barnes will have matted prints and cards available as part of the “Art in Bloom” show at the Van Landingham Gallery, Studio 311, within the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The show runs April 1-30.

Upcoming Classes & Events

Brush Lettering Variations - April 3 and 4
Taught by Pat Blair
In this class, we will start with basic brush strokes, learning the technique and movement needed. We will then explore more spontaneous movements and letter forms, giving many possibilities for creative lettering, including letter flourish variations, script styles and other ‘personalities.’

Triangle Brush Tulips and Magnolias - Starts April 17
Taught by Pat Blair
In this class, we will learn how to use it to achieve graceful leaf shapes, and petal shapes. Through a series of exercises, the will explore the feel and technique used to create these shapes, and then put them together to achieve beautiful tulips and magnolias.

Watercolor Classes
