Welcome to our newest artists!We are very excited to announce two new artists joining the Gallery in June! Vanessa Nehring is a watercolor and pastel artist, who lives in Fairfax, VA with her family.
Why art? Why do you do what you do? I've always loved making things and taking care of people. Creating became a way to heal from my anxieties and channel my energy into positive outcomes for myself and others. I want to be an artist that draws inspiration from my own joys so I can share it with others and hopefully help them as it helped me.
What is integral to your work, to the work of an artist? I find myself gravitating around realism because I just paint what I see. I love and admire artists who can translate color and style beyond what is literal. So for me,. what's important is to keep learning and embracing the challenges of not knowing everything and recognizing that there is so much more to learn from the world and from others. ================================== LK Gupta works in color pencil and charcoal.
Who are you and what do you do? I’m a late-blooming artist. Ever since I was a child, I would pick up magazines and, using my school pencils and paper, draw the faces of people I found interesting. Then it all faded away when I went to college and started working corporate jobs thereafter. Now, for the last six years, I have come back to my first love – art – to make it my main vocation. I work with various mediums like color pencils, graphite pencils and charcoal, pastels as well as oil paints. What is integral to your work, to the work of an artist? Difficult question, since this can vary from one artist to another. For me, the power of observation is very important – there are emotions hidden in the smallest of things that people do (or not do). Having the ability to observe and interpret how people present themselves is central to my work.
