ARTIST OF THE MONTH

This month we are featuring Victoria Barnes.
Victoria is a photographer that focuses on abstracts and nature.  Victoria strives to capture the emotions she is feeling at the moment she clicks. the shutter.  “I want you to experience the sensation of comfort that a forest full of trees brings, or the sun spreading its glow on all that surrounds it as it rises or sets.    If you can sense the breeze that was blowing, or feel the warmth of the sun, then I know that I’ve accomplished my goal.”  If you have never seen her unique style of photography, please visit her page on the website, or even better, come in to the Gallery and see it in person.

Accolades and Events

Ellen Rosenthal was juried into the September exhibit at Del Ray Artisans, "Second Time Around".  Featured will be handmade block print collages using recycled materials.  The opening reception is September 5, 7-9 PM; exhibit runs from September 5-27.

Ellen Rosenthal will also be showing her work at the Lakeridge Public Library, Tacketts Mill, 2239 Old Bridge Road, Woodbridge, VA 22192.  Hand-made block prints and block print collages of botanicals and still lifes on display in September and October; dates to be announced.  

Zoe Jarvis will be participating in the Burke Centre Festival, September 6 and 7, 9:30-5 (Sat) 10-5 (Sun), Burke Centre Conservancy Festival Grounds, 6060 Burke Centre Parkway, Burke, VA. 

Zoe Jarvis will also be showing her work at the Mosaic District Fall Festival, September 27 and 28, 11-6pm, 2905 District Ave, Fairfax, VA. 

Victoria Barnes will have framed prints, matted prints and cards available as part of the “The Last Harvest” show at the Van Landingham Gallery, Studio 311, within the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The show runs September 1-30.

Upcoming Classes & Events

Pat Blair will be offering the following classes:

Ornamental Penmanship (Spencerian Script) lower case - September 11 and 12, online class which will be recorded. A study of the lower case letters of this beautiful script. 

Ornamental Penmanship (Spencerian Script) Capital letters - October 2, 9, and 16, online class which will be recorded. A close look at the beautiful ornate capital script letters of Spencerian

Big and Bold Blooms November 6 and 7. A fun watercolor class where we will learn to paint large florals with freedom and spontaneity
