We welcome a new artist to the Gallery, Shaoping Zeng!Who are you and what do you do? I'm Shaoping Zeng, a dedicated oil painting artist with a lifelong journey in the art world. What is your background? My career has spanned various roles—art teacher, art gallery owner, and art school principal—before I transitioned into full-time painting in my retirement. What is your medium and why did you choose it? My preferred medium is oil on canvas, where I embrace the rich texture and vibrant colors that this medium allows. I find immense joy in the way oil paints bring depth, life, and emotion to the canvas. Why art? Why do you do what you do? My passion for art began in early childhood. I still remember the first time I had an art teacher at the age of 8, and from that moment, I knew that no matter where life took me, my path would always be connected to art. If you were not an artist, what career would you have wanted to pursue? If I weren't an artist, I’d likely be a chef, experimenting with different ingredients to create dishes that bring joy and delight to my family and others.
